Loyalty is a blessing. Being rewarded for loyalty is a longstanding practice of Ultima Online which began in 2001. Player Accounts are aged while they are active which may be longer than an actual calendar year if the account had lapsed during that time. When a full year of active time is accumulated, the account is awarded credits with which are used to select various rewards. These are called Veteran Rewards, or simply Vet Rewards. Once claimed, a Vet Reward can be traded and sold, but some can only be used by characters on accounts with the proper ageing. All Vet Rewards are Blessed and display the year they appeared on the Veteran Reward Lists.
All accounts that were created prior to November 30, 1999 were automatically awarded for all time from its creation date, regardless of the actual account status. This was due to the creation of the Veteran Rewards. After the thirtieth, only the months actually paid for were applied to account age. To view an Account Age, simply open the Paper Doll, double click on the “Character Profile”, and the age of your account in months will display at the bottom of the gump.
When your Account reaches its Anniversary Date, a gump will appear upon every login alerting you that your Vet Reward(s) are waiting. You have the option of canceling the message until your next login, or pressing “Okay” to view your reward choices via the Ultima Online Rewards Program gump.
While navigating through the selections, if you do not see what you wish, then you most likely do not have the required Account Age for that item. Additionally, once you make your selection, regardless of which character you are using, you will use one credit. Make sure you choose what you wish to have as GMs will not swap out poorly chosen items. Other things to be mindful of…
- You do not have to make a selection right away. You can “bank” your Vet Reward credits for another year, or two or five.
- Some items are Shard Bound and cannot be moved from the Shard where you originally selected your Vet Reward. Read the Item Descriptions thoroughly. Additionally, some items are Account Bound, thus they cannot be given, sold or traded to any character that is not on that account.
- If you know you are eligible for a Vet Reward and the gumps are not appearing for you, it could be that the Reward Service is down. Do not page a GM about the issue.
